This project examines previous approaches toallocating road space for all users and also review approaches to giving public transport priorityin road space allocation. A new approach to determining ‘optimum’ road spaceallocation is developed using a Social Cost Benefit approach. Advanced micro-simulationapproaches to model traffic impacts of alternative public transport priority designs isused to determine guidelines for ‘optimal’road space allocation in relation to public transport.
The objective of this project is to study the optimal road space allocation taking public transport into consideration.
